Competitve Collaboration (Chinatown)  2015

Competitive Collaboration (Chinatown) is a narrative that revolves around a central figure repeating the action of rolling one's self up in a rug that had been purchased in Chinatown from my significant other’s family. Throughout the years the blanket has become a traditional mattress her family sleeps on when they travel to visit.

The viewer engages the work as a performance but I've included a portable DVD player that hovers on a shelf over the center of the displaying a more thoughtfully composed version of the performance, edited in video editing software and scored with dramatic soundtracks found online which were repurposed and manipulated.

Two viewers can engage this audio through the use of headphones, however, initiating a removal of them from the general space and into a more personal, contrived space.
