The Doryphoros 2014

The Doryphoros is a reinterpretation of the great ancient figure sculpture, Doryphoros by Polykleitos, which reuses the context established by the Greeks, and every sculptor after, through the artist's contemporary lens.

This work consists of a piece of steel that props up a found piece of lumber that the artist has painted white. There are no fasters or interior armatures that allow the wood to stand up, other than the objects own weight. This action is contained in a "structure in progress" that the artist continues to build throughout the opening of the show.
