Hung to Dry (Inverted) 2014

Hung to Dry (Inverted) is a painting that was created using an armature that is then flipped upside down and wrapped in plastic. What the viewer sees is the underside of the painting, denying the view of the “front” of the piece. The armature that aided in the production of the work then is hung up on the wall and becomes a work itself.

The production of the work removes itself from typical “art making” that relates more to construction work or archaeological practices. The conceit that creates the objects follows the procedures in which archaeologists remove artifacts or other precious items from the ground.
