un-Earthing II (Not) 2015

Un-Earthing II (Not) aims at a visualization and trapping of the object itself in transformation. Un-Earthing II (Not) becomes a formal object that is more easily recognizable as an abstraction.

However, the piece follows a general conceit that derived from LACMA’s process of extracting their newly found specimens by the use of plaster to create an egg around the object that traps the Earth inside making it available for relocation.

After the casting and relocation of the object(s), the egg is stripped back and the object(s) removed. Un-Earthing II (Not) complicates this process by representing a middle ground that neither points to the peeling back or the initial cast and trapping, playing with it’s presence in time and space.
